Creating Charts¶
Smart CSV Editor can turn a selection of cells into a chart you can save or share — no exporting to another app.
Charts are a Pro feature
Building and exporting charts requires Smart CSV Editor Pro. Free users are prompted to upgrade when they open the chart builder.
Making a chart¶
- Select the cells you want to plot — drag out a range covering the numbers (and, ideally, a label column and/or a header row).
- Tap the Chart button in the toolbar (in the ••• overflow menu on iPhone).
- The Create Chart screen opens with a live preview and options.
- Adjust the options until it looks right, then save or share it.
Selecting the right cells
Include the column headings and a label column in your selection when you can — Smart CSV Editor will use them to title the chart and label the axis. If your selection doesn't cover the first row, it still tries to pick up sensible labels for you. You can always override these in the options.
Chart types¶
Pick a type at the top of the Create Chart screen:

Options¶
| Option | What it does |

| First Row Is Header | Treat the top row of the selection as series names instead of data |
| Labels | Choose which column supplies the category labels — or use Row Numbers |
| Switch Rows & Columns | Transpose the data, swapping what's a category and what's a series |
| Values | Tick which columns to plot. Columns that don't contain numbers can't be charted and are shown as unavailable |
The preview updates live as you change options, so you can see the effect immediately.
Note
Only numeric columns can be plotted. If your selection has no numbers, the builder tells you and asks you to select numeric cells or adjust the options. A pie chart additionally needs positive values in its first series.
Saving & sharing¶
Once the chart looks right, use the buttons at the top:
- Save Image → Save to Photos — saves a PNG of the chart to your photo library.
- Save Image → Share… — sends the chart image through the standard share sheet (Messages, Mail, AirDrop, save to Files, etc.).
- Expand — view the chart fullscreen before saving.
Saved chart configuration¶
Your chart choices for a file are remembered, so returning to the chart builder starts from where you left off rather than from scratch.
